Antelope Canyon
I was traveling in the western United States, in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, when I first encountered a photograph of Antelope Canyon. I was knocked dead. The image, made by photographer Peter Lik, stopped me in my tracks, and I knew immediately that I had to see—and photograph—the canyon for myself.
The following day, my wife and I traveled from Jackson Hole to Page, Arizona. I had arranged to spend time in the canyon with a photographer guide, Lionel Bigthumb, whose knowledge of the light, the formations, and the rhythms of the canyon proved invaluable. Together, we spent a full day immersed in Antelope Canyon, moving slowly, watching the light shift and transform the stone.
We made hundreds of photographs that day. These images are but a few.
